I skipped the Pilates group and stayed in bed till the last minute before the 8:00 a.m. Mass. At 8:30 “FAB ABS” met in the Fitness Center. I hurried up there after Mass, but the guy in charge suggested I wait till 10:00 a.m. for the “Body Sculpt Boot Camp.” Sure I did. I did attend the talk on the Port Highlights for this cruise even though I’ve been to all these places before. There is always something more to learn, and there was. It was a tough choice because at the same time there was a program called: “The Art of Collecting”. At this stage of my life, collecting is not an art. It is a vice. I stayed with the Port Highlights lecture.
They made Cinnamon Rolls and Ensaymadas in the Culinary Arts Class this morning. That’s the last place I need to be, and I have no idea what an Ensaymadas is, and was not about to find out lest I wear it home. Spell Check didn’t even like the idea. I did go to the class called: “A Taste of the Caribbean” and learned how to make Chicken Trinidad with Orange Rum Sauce. Look out Colorado! Next week, we’re having a Caribbean night and I don’t care how deep the snow is! The best quote from the class from a very dark skinned Chef from the south if India was: “Black is beautiful except when cooking.” No one told my mother that.
There was a talk on Port Shopping, but since this is not a shopping trip, and I already did mine on line, I took a nap after lunch. That’s right, a NAP. I’m old, and I have always understood that this is what old people do in the afternoon when it’s 82 degrees. While I was sleeping, they taught Samba Dancing. When I woke up, it was just in time for the “Steel Drum Seminar”. I went, but got a headache and didn’t stay too long. I’m not quite into that yet, and there isn’t room in either of my condos for a set of steel drums nor patient neighbors to put up with my practicing.
Since this was a day at sea, it is a “formal” night in terms of the dress code. The captain hosted a champagne toast before the “B B King” music group took the main stage. They were good especially if “loud” makes music “good”. It was a 4 mile walking day, and tonight’s pictures show lunch at the Lido Pool, A Chef at Culinary Arts Class, The Steel Drum band, and tonight’s spectacular sunset.
